Access Statement for Felin Carrog, Llanddeiniol, Llanrhystud, Ceredigion SY23 5AW
Introduction
Felin Carrog is a 19th century former corn mill and cottage providing guest accommodation on a ‘Bed and Breakfast’ basis.
The picture shows the working corn mill in 1920, this is part of the current main house accommodation.

The nature of the building dictates some accessibility constraints and the following statement will provide more details.

Pre-Arrival
• We are in a rural location and the use of a car is strongly recommended for our guests
• The nearest train station is at Aberystwyth approximately 7 miles distant
• Taxis can be found at the station but require booking for outward journeys from Felin Carrog
• We have a website and are on Facebook
• We can be contacted by telephone or e-mail [details below]
• The Access Statement is available on our website, by request and in the Welcome folders in our rooms
• Due to the nature of the building we advise that guests with mobility or visual impairments are accompanied during their stay

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
• There is a house name sign at the entrance to the drive, on the wall
• To access the parking area there is a wrought iron entrance gate. This will be either be open or guests can open it on arrival and proceed into the drive
• The parking area is located in front of Felin Carrog on a flat surface
• To reach the house from the parking area there is a step up into the courtyard garden and two further steps into the house and we can assist at all times with luggage
• There are lights at the house entrance at night

Main Entrance
• There are two doors into the house 74cm wide
• Audible smoke detectors are located around the building
• Complimentary internet access is available in all rooms

Lounge / Breakfast Room
• There is a two seater sofa available with television service
• The dining end can cater for up to six people
• There is a log burner which is lit in the winter months
• The floor is quarry tiles
• From this room there is access to the guest bedrooms via the private stairs.  Please note the stairs are slightly steeper than normal and do not offer a handrail so maybe unsuitable for some guests

Breakfast
• Breakfast is served in the Lounge / Breakfast room or can be served in the garden if requested the night before
• The dining table can extend to cater for six
• Breakfast menus are available at all times and can be provided in large type if requested
• All food is served to the tables personally by ourselves

Laundry
• Not available, although an ironing board and iron can be supplied on request

Bedrooms
• All doors have locks
• Rooms have centrally operated ceiling lights and lamps giving good light levels
• Rooms have complimentary tea and coffee making facilities and a hairdryer
• An alarm clock is available
• The floors are wooden
• Mill room has a door 72cms wide and has a standard double bed with access from both sides. The room also has a fitted wardrobe, chest of drawers, bedside table with lamp and stool
• Ford Room has a door 72cms wide and has a standard double bed with access from both sides, a wardrobe and bedside table with lamp
• There is a torch provided in each room for emergency use

Bathroom
• The bathroom has a laminate floor
• In the bathroom on the first floor there is a bath with 59cm high side.
• Over the bath there is a power shower with curved shower surrounds
• There is a toilet – height 42cm
• IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT THE TOILET DOES NOT RUN TO MAINS DRAINS THEREFORE SANITARY ITEMS, PLASTIC OR RUBBER ITEMS, WET WIPES, COTTON WOOL ETC., MUST NOT BE DISPOSED OF IN IT. BINS ARE AVAILABLE FOR DISPOSAL OF SUCH ITEMS

Grounds and Gardens
• Felin Carrog has a small front courtyard garden with seating area available for guests
• The drive leads to the pretty ford and bridge and guests are welcome to walk across the bridge and view the grounds
• A footpath leads from the front of the property into the surrounding countryside

Additional Information
• There are four doors from which to evacuate the building and guests have notices in the rooms detailing the fire evacuation procedure
• A bell is located in the hallway and this instruction with our mobile telephone number is in the Welcome folder in the rooms
• The house is non-smoking throughout
• We do have a utility room where wet outer clothing and boots can be dried
• We have secure outbuildings where bicycles can be left at their owners’ risk
• Mobile phone reception is variable
• We aim to be available for our guests as much as possible and are happy to advise on local attractions and facilities
• We accept cash and the following credit and debit cards; Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, Discover, Diners Club and JCB
• We are a dog friendly establishment but would request that guests do not allow their dogs onto the furniture
